What is kickboxing?

It is a dynamic martial art combining the best of boxing and explosive kicking techniques. A kickboxing was derived from thaiboxing you will fnd that all the techniques required for kickboxing are taught in our classes.

What is Thaiboxing?

 Otherwise known as Mauy Thai, it was developed in 16th century Thailand as a warfare art. It is renowned for its effective use of low kicks, knees & elbows

What are the benefits of training?

 Ideal for self defense, practical and functional "IT WORKS"

 Fitness, improve your cardio vascular system, muscular endurance, flexibility

 Most importantly - it is FUN!

What sort of people train?

 KODO appeals to men and women of all ages and walks of life. Celebrities such as R & B Superstars Pink and Sisco, professional football players and athletes train along-side accountants, nurses and students. In fact everybody can enjoy the benefits!

Who can do it?

 Men and women of all ages from juniors to seniors

How often should I have classes?

 The more classes you take the faster you will progress. Three classes a week would be great and in Thailand students train all day, everyday. However often it's not practical to take more then one lesson a week (you will still make progress) in which case you should supplement you training by exercising on your own.

Can I (must I) compete?

 There are opportunities to compete at all levels from novice to world class, however it's not essential to your training.

Are KO instructors qualified?

 Yes all our instructors are qualified and have professional indemnity

 They are regularly monitored to maintain our high standards

I am not fit can I still take part?

 Yes but as with any physical activity it is wise to begin cautiously and seek medical advise if you are concerned.

What clothing will I need?

 Loose fitting clothing is sufficient for beginners

 KO clothing is available for purchase.

 All equipment is provided eg: gloves, focus pads, et al.

Can I come by myself? Will I be the only beginner?

 The classes are very friendly and you will quickly settle in so don't be shy. The classes are classified into different levels, beginners, general, intermediate or advanced so you will work at a level to suit you. You don't need to rely on friends turning up, we can find you a partner to train with.

Can I join at any time or do I need to wait for a course to start?

 You can join at any time. No need to book just turn up and go for it!

Can I take exams?

 Yes, there is a structured grading system from beginners to advanced

 Exams comprise theory and practical evaluations that lead to Black Belt status and Instructor certification

Can I get private tuition?

 Yes, you need to contact KO to book a session with one of our instructors

What does a class consist of?

 Warm up
 Stretching
 Shadow work; how to stand, hold your guard, breathing techniques, footwork and boxing. All demonstrations are in the air.
 Pad work
 Drill work
 Partner work
 Fitness circuit
 Cool down
 Stretching

How much will it cost me?

 Prices are given for each venue, see the Classes section.

Do I need an appointment?

 No appointment is required for group classes, but you will need to make prior arrangements for one-2-one tuition.

How is the training KO provides different from others?

 The training system that KO has evolved is called KODO. It blends the best of ancient traditions and modern sports science.
